Keyboard Templates for NASCAR Racing 3, CTS, and NASCAR Legends v1.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------- The files in this archive are several printable keyboard templates for use with NASCAR Racing 3, the Craftsman Truck Series Expansion Pack, and NASCAR Legends. The templates will fit over and under the top row of function keys on your keyboard, and list all of the available keyboard commands that can be used in the cockpit of these sims. Also included is the file "NCR3KEYS.TXT" which is a complete list of ALL of the keyboard commands available in them. The templates are in binary HP/PCL3 language printer file format, and should print properly with any HP compatable printer, or any printer that understands PCL3 language printer control codes. This covers most modern deskjet and inkjet printers (I have a Lexmark Z11, a Lexmark Z31, and an old HP Deskjet 540C, and the templates print properly on these models). There are four "PRN" printer file templates included in this archive: "N3KEYS_1.PRN" is for use with NASCAR Racing 3 or CTS. The "Autochat" sections of the template are blank so you can write in your own custom Autochat messages after printing the template. "N3KEYS_2.PRN" is for use with NASCAR Racing 3 or CTS. The "Autochat" sections of the template contain my own custom Autochat messages. "NLKEYS_1.PRN" is for use with NASCAR Legends. The "Autochat" sections of the template are blank so you can write in your own custom Autochat messages after printing the template. "NLKEYS_2.PRN" is for use with NASCAR Legends. The "Autochat" sections of the template contain my own custom Autochat messages. To print any of these templates, they must be sent directly to the printer port as a binary printer file from the MS-DOS Prompt: 1) Shell out of Windows to the MS-DOS Prompt (i.e. Start/Programs/MS-DOS Prompt). 2) From the MS-DOS Prompt shell type "COPY/B xxxxxx_x.PRN PRN " (minus the quotes), where "xxxxxx_x.PRN" is the template file that you wish to print (i.e. "COPY/B N3KEYS_2.PRN PRN "). 3) Cut out the two halves of the template, and cut out the blank section marked as "- - - cut - - -". 4) Tape the two halves of the template together using Scotch tape. 5) Fill in the "Autochat" sections of the template with your own custom Autochat messages using a pen (if you printed one of the templates that have those sections blank). 6) If you want to get real fancy, laminate the template using transparent vinyl contact paper -:) Note that you can carefully edit any of the template files before printing them using MS-DOS Edit to add anything that you wish to the template. DO NOT use Windows Notepad, as it will make a mess of the binary printer control codes contained in the template files. Also make sure that you don't add any additional characters to the template files, as this will mess up the alignment of the printed template. In other words if you add any additional characters, delete as many as you added so that the alignment of the columns and the rows remain the same. If the templates do not print properly on your printer, you may have success by printing the included "NASKEYS.GIF" file using a paint program such as Paint Shop Pro. Load the image into your paint program and crop out one of the seperate keyboard templates. Then print the template using the dimensions 10.94" x 3.5", and follow steps 3 through 6 above. Note that the quality of the template will not look as good printing it using this method (verses directly printing the "PRN" printer files), but if your printer doesn't understand the PCL3 language printer control codes, printing the "GIF" format image may get you up and running -:) ENJOY!
